I was responsible for organizing a research team to conduct designing， processing and analyzing involved in the investigation. In order to arrive at the perfect ratio of different substances to be contained in the alloy， I undertook innumerable experiments which were coupled with innumerable failures. Sometimes I would stay in the laboratory for days without knowing the lapse of time. During this difficult but equally exciting period， it was Edison's motto Success Means Standing up Once More After Failure that sustained me. With due efforts， we concluded the research satisfactorily， not only scoring significant technological breakthroughs but also yielding impressive practical profitability.

After graduating as an undergraduate from Tsinghua University in 1995， at the strong recommendation of the University， I took part in a screening test administered by Air China for the recruitment of civil aviation pilots. With my impressive personal performance， I distinguished myself from the a total of 20，000 participants as a qualified candidate and entered China Civil Aviation Flight University in Sichun Province where I studied aviation theories and techniques， aerodynamics， meteorology and other relevant knowledge. In the first year of my studies at this university， I received the honor of Model Student. On account of my prominent performance in my studies and flying practice， together with my strong adaptability， especially with my impressive organizational and communicational capacity， I was dispatched by Air China in July to the Flight Safety Academy located in Florida of the United States to undergo a one-year specialized training in order to develop myself into an outstanding pilot on international flights.

During my studies at Flight Safety Academy， I was confronted with even greater challenges. I made utmost efforts to perfect my English aptitude within the shortest possible time. I continued to study advanced courses in flight principles， aerodynamics， federal regulations and a series of subjects directly or indirectly related to flying. At the same time， I was subjected to the most rigorous flight training. I did not shrink from any of those challenges. Instead， I surmounted them one by one， supported by the powerful spirit of perseverance and confidence cultivated in me in my early childhood. At the end of this one-year training， I received the Certificate for Flying Commercial Multi-Engineer Aircrafts issued by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States. Hard as it was， the one-year experience in the United States not only enabled me to acquire the necessary qualifications as a pilot of international flights， but also helped me to develop some initial understanding of the American society. In July ， I returned to Air China and formally became its qualified pilot on international flights.

As a pilot， one must be in possession of a strong sense of responsibility and the spirit of teamwork. This requires that a pilot must be meticulous in every detail， able to deal with emergencies， and effective in interpersonal communication. Before each routine flight， I would make detailed flight plans， conduct careful analysis of the conditions of the airfields that we would land on， familiarize myself with the air routes and the weather conditions. I pay special attention to enhance my ability in analyzing and handling emergency situations. On those occasions when the flight is delayed due to irresistible factors， my patient explanations to the passengers tend to make them satisfied and their excited emotions would naturally calm down， facilitating the smooth settlement of the problems. All those gradually cultivated qualities serve as my strong assets for commencing new stages of my career.

Over the past four years， I have traveled to virtually all the major countries of the world and I have accumulated a 3000-hour record of safe flight. I was the only sixteen-year-old in my first university classroom. It was one of those defining moments where I was painfully aware of how different I was from the people around me. I had not yet graduated from high school, and yet there I sat in a class on personal and social adjustment, feeling an odd combination of excitement and anxiety. I distinctly recall my heart pounding and my irrational fear that, at any moment, someone would inform me that I did not belong there. I was considered an oddity at my high school as the only student in the history of the school to attend secondary and postsecondary institutions simultaneously as a fulltime student. I was reminded of the fact not through vast support from my school's faculty, but through blatant vocal discouragement.

In an environment where a large majority of residents live below the poverty level, it must have seemed strange that I would attend university early instead of applying for employment. The initial hardships of my first year in college did anything but deter me from wanting to study anthropology. Indeed, the adversity I experienced only succeeded in intensifying it. My high school classes were rather cold and clinical in their teachings, maintaining a firm adherence to stating and memorizing facts with little or no attempt to have students engage with the material. My interest in culture and my natural response to analyze, question, and participate was stifled behind state standards. In contrast, my fascination with culture was able to proliferate in postsecondary schooling as a result of a liberal arts education and my own proposed course of study.

My early education in anthropology started with a historical glance at cultural theory through works of influential pioneers like Malinowski and Mead. I became fascinated by the theoretical framework involved in cultural exploration, especially how cultural beliefs and values play a role in the every day lives of individuals. During a class on ritual and spectacle, I drove headlong and enthusiastically into ideas of ritual importance and its impact on societies. The subjects ranged from the roles of wedding rites to funerals, and I analyzed certain ceremonies and assessed the meaning of their various components. Another class taught by the same professor took ritual metaphor and applied it to narrative. The course addressed European stories from an analytical perspective, and I examined well-known folktales to yield their ritual symbology. I found myself impassioned by the idea of exploring beyond the superficial guise of narrative and seeing it as a meaningful way of expressing a society's basic beliefs and ideologies. Immersing myself in the works of other inspiring anthropologists, I examined texts on narrative form and nature, ritual metaphor and the importance of storytelling in culture.

My interest in storytelling resulted in the subject of my undergraduate thesis. I decided to focus on American narration, specifically concentrating on expressions of masculinity in men's magazines. It discussed dialogue in magazines as well as in teen male group settings, focusing on the conceptualization and presentation of gender in both circumstances. My overarching approach examined how masculine identity in the media has evolved over the last century. I further presented how manly behavior was glamorized in the text from three contemporary men's magazines, and juxtaposed it with an ethnographic work about how young men communicate and assert their gender roles.

My thesis topic is slightly removed from what I would like to study in graduate school, but the process familiarized me with the prerequisites required for social research. It was an unrestricted program in which the student consults with sponsors and plans his or her own course of study. This program approached the undergraduate thesis with the same level of intensity and professionalism as a graduate dissertation.

For my thesis, I assessed my topic and its requirements, efficiently planning my eventual course of study. I organized tutorials with my sponsors and established necessary reading lists that would contribute to my progress. Tutorial discussions allowed me to gain a broad scope of the research process and solidify my thesis into working theoretical, cultural and ethnographic papers. I earned permission to conduct fieldwork at a local Boys and Girl's club, and was approved to interview and observe the interaction between teenage males at the club. For six months, I listened to the things they considered to be important aspects of masculinity and used my time there as one example of teenage suburban expression of larger societal gender roles. I was able to further gain a taste of the graduate dissertation process when I successfully defended my undergraduate thesis during an oral presentation to my sponsors and an outside examiner.

The liberal arts education I received has given me the means to approach social anthropology in a perceptive manner and to consider the various intricacies that influence and shape certain aspects of culture. These were abilities that grew and thrived in an educational environment that allowed me to think critically about topics in anthropology and choose my own course of study. I emerged from college not with textbook facts floating around in my psyche, but with questions, thoughts and theories. I believe it is my undergraduate liberal arts background that provides me with an aberrant and perceptive approach to cultural anthropology.

During my hiatus between undergraduate and graduate education, I was able to step back from the research that captivated me for two years in order to reevaluate my goals in anthropology. While my break did not include leaving school for an extended period, I used the time to once again study broadly in the social sciences. By taking courses in psychology and other areas of anthropology separate from my undergraduate focus, I challenged myself further through exposure to different material and contrasting teaching styles, thereby gaining an educated and informed understanding of my intended course of study for graduate school. My extensive consideration of anthropology and the combination of both my undergraduate and post-baccalaureate education has given me the means to approach graduate school in a thoughtful and perceptive manner. Additionally, this hiatus gave me the ability to devote necessary attention to choosing graduate schools that will both challenge my views of cultural identity and allow me to excel in anthropology.

History has taught me to make substantiated judgments and to interpret and analyse external material as well as my own opinions. I find History intriguing because it gives me the opportunity to study the development of human society over a long-term. My inquisitive mind has further contributed to my enthusiasm for the subject and I enjoy working independently. But all three of my subjects have honed my writing skills, to be able to select and organise knowledge and communicate it coherently and concisely. More specifically, Sociology has been helpful in discerning social trends, and understanding something of the human psyche; and English Literature allows me to study works, in context. All these skills will enable me to read History at university.

I enjoy visiting museums and monuments of history when I have the opportunity. I particularly love the trench experience at the Imperial War Museum and more ancient history- such as the ancient human occupation of Britain - at the National History Museum.

一、公立大学

1.学术

2 、新加坡私立大学读研究生费用

新加坡私立大学硕士学制通常为一年至一年半。硕士学费约为 20000-30000 元新币 / 年，约合人民币 100000-150000 元。

三、留学条件

1、GPA

根据往年其录取的学生分数，公立大学硕士申请要求雅思成绩在6.5-7.0分左右，托福95以上，部分专业需要GRE，商科专业一般需要2年及以上的工作经验。私立大学硕士申请要求低一些，雅思6.0-6.5分左右或者通过学校英文测试。但每个大学或专业都有自己的要求，比如新加坡南洋理工大学的电子工程专业要求雅思不低于了6.5，托福的话，笔考不低于600，机考不低于250，网考不低于100。新加坡国立大学的建筑与环境工程系要求托福不低于580-600，网考不低于85。雅思的话，要在7分以上。GRE的语文和数学部分均不低于320，写作不低于3.5。但是要强调的是通常你的托福、雅思和GRE等分数有年限要求，比如新加坡南洋理工大学的电子工程专业要求必须是最近两年内获得的。新加坡国立大学的建筑与环境工程系要求GRE必须是5年内获得的。

提醒大家公立大学不接受专科生申请，部分私立大学接受专科生。总体来说私立大学对你的经济支撑条件更看重一些。

3、其他材料

除了以上硬性条件要求，需要提供的材料中最重要的是研究计划、推荐人参考，简历(CV/Resume)，个人陈述和作品集，但以上材料不是所有学校和专业都要提供的，要根据学校和专业来定，比如南洋理工大学工程学院开设的专业都要求提供简历、研究计划等。

四、申请时间

新加坡的硕士项目没有统一的考试时间，一般每年有两次入学机会，比如新加坡国立大学和南洋理工大学是每年的1月和8月入学，新加坡管理大学是每年的1月和7月入学，各私立大学有自己的入学时间，一般是滚动式录取。但申请时间一般是入学前2-4个月。
